Waiting
“Wait for the Lord, Be strong and courageous,Wait for the Lord “(Ps 27:14)
Does it take COURAGE to wait for the Lord? You bet it does. In our human penchant for CONTROL, we want every issue, every decision resolved immediately, but often in our desire to resolve issues quickly, we get ahead of the Lord and end up making a mess of things.
Henri Nouwen writes of his friend the trapeze artist. The moment when the flyer lets go of the trapeze and hangs suspended in space must feel like an eternity. Nouwen’s friend writes, “The flyer must never try to catch the catcher. He must wait in absolute trust. The catcher will catch him. But he must wait. His job is not to flail about in anxiety. In fact, if he does it could kill him. His job is to be still. And wait. And to wait is the hardest work of all.”
Today, Be strong and courageous. WAIT for the Lord, and HE will bring you out in His time.
