TRUSTING GOD FOR THE LITTLE THINGS
“My God shall supply ALL you need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19)
In late August of 1968, I flew (alone for the first time) from Baltimore to Tulsa, and from there was to meet up with Tulsa resident and high school friend Gail Caywood to be taken by her parents the additional 90 miles to Siloam springs, Arkansas to begin my college career at John Brown University. When I arrived at the Tulsa airport I immediately went to a pay phone to call Gail so she could pick me up, but I couldn’t find her phone number ANYWHERE! I searched my pockets, my billfold, my suitcase…no number! Finally I decided to look in the phone book, only to find 3 full pages of Caywoods! In my pocket I had 2 dimes, and a check with which I would buy my initial books and supplies for the new school year. Not knowing what else to do, I put my first dime in the phone and called the first Caywood in the book. These folks had never heard of Gail, John Brown, me or anyone else that I knew!! SO….I had a little prayer meeting! I put my last dime in the phone, and noticed that one of the Caywoods in the phone book was in bold type. Taking this as a positive sign, I dialed that number, Gail’s dad answered, they picked me up at the airport, fed me lunch and carried me the final 90 miles of my journey.
Does God supply or every need? YES! Have you heard the song… “Why do I worry, why do I fret….He’s never failed me yet”? It’s true. What needs and concerns do you have today? “Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there.”
THOUGHT: “Trust in yourself and you are doomed to disappointment….. but trust in GOD and you are never to be confounded in time or eternity.” Dwight L. Moody
