In 1981, Minister of Music Aubrey Edwards of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL showed tremendous courage when he hired me as their first full time Minister of Instrumental Music. Because the church was in such a strategic location, eight brass players soon became a complete fifty- piece orchestra. That experience initiated a 35-year ministry in church instrumental music.
